Commentary/review

There are many popular science books about astrophysics but this one strikes me as very original. There is no feeling of a private club of intellectuals with the special kind of knowledge. Personal stories and metaphors are relatable, approachable. The Author clearly had a lot of fun recording the audiobook. I also loved the short anecdote about Professor Peter Higgs.

I will not say that the contents are easy to follow but the impression is that there is the possibility of reaching the kind of understanding the Author had in mind. There is also a kind of frankness I have never encountered with comparable intensity in a popular science book. I liked the way Professor Heymans approached the topics of discrimination in science, trying to give voice to the people who were wronged and not dwelling too long about it. I am not sure if this is the British way or just personal skills in emotional intelligence.

All in all, the book should make the reader passionate about knowledge as the attitude of the Author appears to be contagious.

Wonderful cover, with lovely details. It looks like significant time was put into it. It uses an uncommon colour combination, giving me modern art and expensive album cover vibes.
