Commentary/review
“Diana, Herself : an Allegory of Awakening” by Martha Beck is an unusual book. The closest similar work I know is the famous “Women Who Run with the Wolves” by Clarissa Pinkola Estés. I suspect that both books may be used in all kinds of supervised mental therapy, and, of course, in self-help or personal development efforts.
“Diana, Herself” is satisfyingly coherent, organised and clever. I had tremendous fun listening to it. It is funny where other books tend to be too serious, serious where other books tend to skim through a problem, bright and hopeful where other books run short and stop. The book is a recipe for a remarkable, wholesome weekend or holiday reading. I hope there are more such books to come in the Bewilderment Chronicles series.
I loved the narration style, both relaxed and energetic.
A good idea for a cover, the title and not much else, only a suggestion of a picture in the background.
