Commentary/review
A profound study of the phenomenon of social atomisation, mental health and the role of community. The book is focused on the life on an average American veteran but the conclusions have broader significance. The Author sets to find out, on the basis of his direct observations, research and the precious gift of inference, why people sacrifice themselves to others and why this bond should be attainable not only in war or crisis, but during peace as well. Powerful and relevant images support this intellectual endeavor. Another work by Sebastian Junger that provides credible answers to important questions.
An astonishing clarity of argument that many writers can only dream about.
The cover resembles, in come respects, the previous one (Freedom). Perhaps a basis for an unofficial series.
