Commentary/review
Published in 2011, another great story from one of my favourite authors. As usual, we encounter a tragically average, common individual who discovers their worth, finds a place in a community and takes a tentative step towards a happy life, featuring hope and meaning. The book is a strong candidate for my Book of the Year 2025 contest. The threads woven in this tale are probably designed to hit a little bit after the book is finished. The story is definitely not painted in the good versus evil mode, nor is it relativistic. The book is easy to finish but not entirely easy to untangle. The Author is very intelligent and truly proficient in her art form.
I also enjoy audiobooks featuring strong American accents, this time from the Texas panhandle. The narrator did a splendid job.
A simple enough idea for a cover. However, varied and almost delicate letters make the production quite sophisticated. I like it a lot.
