Commentary/review
This could be the ultimate LOTR experience for those who do not watch or like the movies. There is no denying the fact that the vision of Peter Jackson is already engrained in our culture. The elvish language feels like an ordinary foreign dialect and the main characters have the faces and voices of the actors that played them. I believe that Andy Serkis used all of that to the book’s advantage, using the impressions of several movie characters (with the notable exception of the elves) to increase immersion. Otherwise, it is the pure text of The Lord of the Rings. I remembered it differently and am now very glad I returned to find it a very good and noble piece of literature. The audiobook is the opus magnum in voice acting, quite extraordinary.
